THE MICROVASCULAR ANASTOMOSIS USING AUTOGENOUS VENOUS CUFF
Cho Sang-Hun

Kim Chin-Hwan
Abstract
Since microsurgery was pioneered by Jacobson and Suarez in 1960, the work has been extended by other the technique of microvascular surgery has been firmly established,

However, successful results have not been obtained consistently due to thrombosis and bleeding at the anastomotic site. Because the most frequent cause of thrombus formation is ascribed to the injury of suture needle to vessel wall. much effort has been spent in developing methods of anastomosis in which the number of sutures is reduced to a minimum to achieve an ultimately leak-free anastomosis with as few sutures as possible.

The application of autogenous venous cuff to the anastomotic site permits fewer sutures and eliminates bleeding from it.

The our experimental study on 1mm rat femoral artery anastomosis using only four sutures and venous cuff is resulted in 100% patency rate in two weeks and histopathologically examined.
